In particular, the section from Nguyen Thi Tu Street to Ong Nhieu Creek serves as a viaduct and parallel road on both sides of the bridge, while the section from Ong Nhieu Creek to Third Beltway will go overhead. The project clearance volume is about 59 hectares.

At the same time, this route contributes to traffic sharing, reducing traffic congestion of Nguyen Thi Dinh, Dong Van Cong, Nguyen Duy Trinh roads... combining adjustment of urban planning, land use planning, addition of logistic service areas adjacent to Cat Lai-Phu Huu port cluster.

When making this route, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City said that it is necessary to make adjustments to some planning projects and add some contents for the Third Beltway project.

In particular, at the intersection of Third Beltway with HLD highway, there are 2-lane dedicated roads (between Third Beltway and parallel roads); adjusting the location of the Third Beltway parallel road; the turning point under Nhon Trach Bridge,... to ensure connectivity.

In order to have a basis for implementation, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City proposed the Ministry of Transport to consider and soon have opinions on the design plan of this route.

According to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Port - Cat Lai port is located on Dong Nai River in the northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, is a key port, important for import and export of goods of the Southern Key Economic Region in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

The container cargo output of Cat Lai port now accounts for about 85% compared to the southern ports and 50% compared to ports across the country. Currently, traffic in and out of Cat Lai - Phu Huu port area is very difficult, often there are traffic jams.

Therefore, the opening of the cat Lai - Phu Huu Third Beltway inter-port route according to the people's committee of Ho Chi Minh City is very urgent.
